SHEBOYGAN FALLS, WI – A Johnsonville member (employee) was curious if her home state – which is so well known for bratwursts – had ever officially acknowledged National Bratwurst Day, which is on August 16 each year.
To Gabi F.’s surprise, it had not.
So, she submitted an official application to Wisconsin’s website. On August 15 (as Johnsonville considers “Bratsgiving Eve”), Gabi received official confirmation that Gov. Tony Evers proclaimed “August 16, 2024, as National Bratwurst Day throughout the State of Wisconsin.”
Gabi is a member of Johnsonville’s marketing team, and said she submitted the application as something “fun on behalf of Johnsonville,” which always treasures and celebrates the special encased meat holiday. Over the years, Johnsonville has referred to the annual National Bratwurst Day as “Bratsgiving.”
“What a pleasant surprise I had when I received the email on August 15 acknowledging that the application was already reviewed, and an official proclamation was issued!” said Fischer.
A copy of the official Wisconsin proclamation can be found here.
