Teaming Up for ‘No Phone Friday’

Brand joins local brewery in shared mission to bring people together and live in the moment

No Phone Friday

Johnsonville is getting behind “No-Phone Friday,” a new effort from Milwaukee’s Broken Bat Brewery that encourages guests to ditch the mobile screen and be fully present for good times and human conversation.

The movement is designed to bring people together, supporting a key tenet of Johnsonville’s current Keep It Juicy advertising campaign. After holding two successful events this summer that yielded between 30% and 40% participation among guests, Broken Bat is doubling down on its August installment of “No-Phone Friday.” All are encouraged to stop by this Friday, August 30, between noon and 10 p.m. to enjoy free food and other giveaways. Johnsonville brats will be served from 4 to 7 p.m.

In exchange for leaving phones with brewery staff (where they are safely stowed in a locked box), guests will receive a numbered card that can be redeemed for a free game of darts and a second beer. Johnsonville will up the ante with larger prizes and giveaways, including gift baskets, product vouchers and their Sizzling Sausage Grill Plus.

“It’s a simple exchange but a meaningful gesture,” said Broken Bat founder Tim Pauly. “Whether it’s 20 minutes or the entire stay, we want to reward guests’ commitment with easy, fun ways to engage with one another. Having Johnsonville get behind this sends a powerful message that it’s OK to take a break. Enjoy each other’s company over brats and a beer!”

Since launching its “Keep It Juicy” campaign in April, Johnsonville has been vocal about the power of positivity, fun and more human connections. In addition to promoting more uplifting social content across its social media channels, the brand is encouraging more together time.

“We’re big fans of people hanging out in real life,” said Johnsonville’s senior director of marketing, Jamie Schmelzer. “We applaud everyone involved in these events for being so intentional about making time for fun and prioritizing togetherness. We hope our tasty sausage, prizes and giveaways make something great even better.”

During this event, Johnsonville joins Broken Bat in encouraging donations for Mental Health America of Wisconsin.
